by the way i decided in the end the combination of oil spraying everywere, being ontop of a bush and sparking up from the dodgy starter moter wiring to be the final cause of the fire. i guess the car was probably bent chassis leg anyway from the impact of the tree just a shame hardly anything was salvagable after all the time and hard work.

in around march time i saw this corsa for sale after constantly searching for a new project car

it has had a full respray in ford frozen white including behind doors, behind bumpers and engine bay

aswell as coming with a brand new gsi bumper from vauxhall with all mountings intact, a sprayed post 97 rear bumper and sprayed gsi sideskirts

it did not come with arches or jacking covers.

the lad had fitted a redtop but couldnt get it to run so gave up and split the car in the end.

Here me and my mate are picking it up on his trailor

i payed 400 for the rolling shell and sold 180 pounds worth of bits off it including,

smoked rear lights, 100mm lowering springs, opel gsi grill, the silver interior plastics, sport interior and the front spax shox and springs meaning i got the car for 220 quid in the end

pleased with that but it does need alot of work but i would have stripped it right back anyway so it makes no diference to me if a few things need welding, overall the shell is very solid and a good base. i have an astra to drive daily now so i can take as long as i need to do everything right this time.

i got it parked up at home

i put standard lights off my old car on to keep it tidy on the drive

i forgot to say, the shell is a 1400 sport i made sure i bought a car with no sunroof as i always hated it on the red 1 and didnt want to have to blank it as it would never look amazing i dont think. also i hated windy windows had so many problems so im glad this 1 has electric!

i started to strip everything out and offfered up some old gsi arches i had from my old corsa

back view, looks wierd with having no suspension atall looks silly low.

I continued to rip out the inside

Got the front carpet out and it fell to pieces :/ then found a pond on the floor! probably a hole somewere as they usually rust through by the master cylinder... (i found that it was the rust by master cylinder later on and welded it up)

i removed the bung to let the water out.

Removed the air conditioning as i wont be needing that weighty crap! it is the uk afterall!

Various air con parts taken out.

Finally found the fixings and removed the box its self and the matrix

so i ended up with an empty car and a boot full of nasty rubish

now comes the tedious job of removing all the nasty sound deadening...

i started with a hairdryer and thought fuck that went and bought a heat gun.. got it off in no time! used thinners and wire wool to remove the remains.

Colection of crap removed

Now the roof

Nice and clean

More cleaning up with spirits and wool using an old chisel for stubborn bits

used chisel to remove that horible seal stuff

decided to get rid of all the rear seat brackets this time. i bought a few diferent spot weld drill bits to try

removed the front deadening ( im saving it all to weigh at the end to see what weight i save. dont want it anyway horrible stuff and il be painting the inside.

More bracket removal

I then removed the last bit of sound deadening and cleaned the floor up.

Now i remove the dash.never done this before worked round it in the old car. this wiring loom is crazy and 3 times bigger and more complicated than the basix 1.4 8v 1 was!

a load more deadening under dash removed

all deadening now removed from car!!

i chucked it all that i had been saving in a big bin bag weighed it on the scales and it came in at 15KG so was well worth removing!! brilliant!
