cheers yer I will pop down more next year

Well took Monty out last night for last time this year as there are a few things I want to sort on him ready for next year Then I decided to pick harley up today in him before he got a good wash.... So driving home and hit a pot hole...... BANG and massive screech from the tyres.... got out and looked only to find

Balls comes to mind and the reason

A few more...

and back home in the garage

So after recovery I had a better look from what I can see he needs:

Wing + painting
Arms + tie bars re powdercoated
Lower Ball joint
Arch Trim
Tyre

I'm not saying its all the pot holes fault as I think the Ball joint must have been cracked to just snap like that So now I'm looking at HH lower ball joints, Has anyone used these?

Time for rebuild number 3

Where do i stand with the council.... anyone think i could get some money from them?

heard of a few corsa balljoints breaking , allso heard that its only the pre97 balljoints that tend to break ? .. could be wrong tho.

spose you could try the councill but i would imagine they would say the balljoint was faulty and not the road.

It will be hard to get money from the council as your car is not stock. Lowering/stiffening your suspension means they have an excuse not to pay.
Still worth a shot though.

And yep BALLS indeed you've done a proper job on that gutted for you.

look into post 97 balljoints .. im sure they are less prone to breaking .. you will have to change the arms aswell tho if you do use later joints.

Well the more i think about and having conversation with a few people makes me think it was a faulty ball joint because if I change to post 97 ball joints all i'm doing is moving the bolt fitment (on the arm) and that isn't the actual problem! The pin itself is the problem (which is the same diameter on pre and post ball joints) I think its a manufacture problem..... or cheap metal as they arn't genuine items! Although I do have everything here to change to later ball joints

Isn't this what finished off scriv's/brandfincham's Corsa? Everyone blamed the 19" wheels at the time.

I'd be very suprised if Dale managed to get any money out them to be honest. I damaged my car on one 2 years back. Did everything by the book, provided photos, filled out all the forms, gave them the bills etc. Got a letter around 4 months later saying I wasn't getting a penny and had bugger all come back

Don't forget i'm running F28 so you have to space the tie bar down as it has the plates on the cross member to match it! Otherwise the tie bar would touch the gearbox

2 examples:

Only difference is in picture 1 the ball joint in mounted inside the arm but I can't personally seeing it making that much difference in respect of stress to the ball joint, geometry yes but I had all that setup and was fine....

im confused by your handling set up. lowering the tie bars on the arms, is surely not helping?

i saw your top mounts and you have moved the caster towards the front of the car, when you idealy want it towards the rear of the car...
