Cheers Gary appreciate the comments, yeah I've put a lot of time into it so far, I'd be silly not to see it through.

Engine is up on the stand now so i can give it a clean up and lick of paint, i'll be fitting my XE inlet cam and vernier aswell so pics of this soon.
Will need to cut out the cam cover so the vernier can be adjusted then will either paint or powder coat it to freshen it up.

hoping to have the old LET out of the car by next weekend but it depends how busy i am at work.
Also going to be buying a stack mechanical oil pressure guage and a new mocal oil cooler, any reccomendations on what row cooler?

No photo's from yesterday but the old LET is out of the car, while stripping it down i noticed a lot of crap in the header tank, had a closer look and it looks like metal filings, and a very small ammount of oil residue.

Could this have been a possible cause of my low oil pressure problems?
porus head?
or a crack in an oil way?

anyways onwards and upwards, new let block has been painted, coscast head cleaned, new gaskets ordered etc. will start swapping everything over from the old engine and get it built up during the evenings this week.

aim is to have the new LET in the car and running by the end of next weekend.

Just read this from start to finish. You must have the patience of a saint!

I very much doubt i'd have finished this after the first failure, never mind the second.

Thank you everyone

John, its certainly tried my patience and i've had the car since 2009 lol been a long build so far, can see the light at the end of the tunnel now though

Damon, heya bud hows things? yep going to keep the rover as its not a bad car at all, cheap to run and cost me nothing. will be able to insure 2 cars aswell, so far quotes for the corsa are around the £700 - 800 mark F/c declared with dvla as 2.0 turbo.

yes mate, its a shame i couldnt give you my old FK's they had basically had it and werent worth using again so i binned them.
I found the FK's to be an ok coilover kit but they do easily sieze. and will corrode.

FK's, Spax etc all seem to be good on a budget.

or have a word with my bro as im not sure what he'll do with his spax rsx coilovers once he has his air ride fitted.

Nibnob, well spotted haha the ol girl lives on, i do miss that car

Update:

BBS Rebuild, a while ago i decided i'd like the wheels to be a tad wider on the rear so snapped up a set of new dishes from ebay. These are 1.5" wide which will give me an extra half inch wider on the rear, doesnt sound like a lot but will be ample on a corsa. Originally these wheels are 6.5 inch with an et of 33, with these lips it will basically create a 7.5 inch wheel with. the offset being et 21.

The front wheels will be left at 7 inch wide et 27

Tyres stripped off and started removing the stainless bolts

removed the lip

new dish on, bead of sealant on the inside and started to torque up the bolts

once torqued up, you need to run another bead of silicone sealant between the joins, this will make sure there are no air leaks

finished

hopefully get my tyres back on tomorrow and on the car this weekend
