I'm preparing my engine bay for painting, it's the first time I've had anything to do with this sort of thing, my question is, the bare parts of metal, should I use etch primer on them, as a few people I've spoken to seem to think they'll be fine with normal high build primer. I want the finish to last not peel off after a few months. Thanks.

Use etch primer first as it gives a good bond, then the high build, then whatever is going over it!
