when it says 3g, what do they mean? just it has 3g ability or does it come with some connectivity/provider etc

I am at a conference is USA and there are so many iPads here. I like them but I can't see myself buying one unless I start doing more photography where it would be a fantastic bit of kit for showing clients the photos.
