OK so progress is a little slow....

Just bought some of these - should make things a little safer at the 7,500rpm rev limit



Things to do while Dave is away (he made me a list )

Remove throttle body and dBilas boost pipe
Remove standard throttle pedal
Fit new cable operated throttle pedal
Remove under dash trays/ shelves (just so there is more room when fitting the cable for the throttle pedal)
Remove old turbo oil feed (as will be fitting a new one with oil restrictor)
Attach spangly new exhaust manifold

Plus will remove wheels and disks as thing there is a stone behind one as I get a judder when braking... then attach again.

No photos - but bonded the HID ballasts to the bottom of the headlights to get them outta the way

Manifold is done, ported etc... ready to rock!

Spec is 5mm thick mild steel (cant remember exact type) equal length to within 10mm. all flanges are 12mm thick to ensure no warping..

Also bought one of these... VR6 throttle body, much bigger for better flow, came with TPS and cost just £31.99 delivered...



please note all unecessary crap will be removed/ grinded off...

So - actually saw my car at the weekend

So remember that list - here progress:
Remove throttle body and dBilas boost pipe - Done

All pretty easy actually... got some pics while there

Manifold bolted up - can't believe how easy it is to get to all the bolts - top marks on the design!

Not that anyone has much interested, but meh...

The to do list:
fabricate Custom actuator bracket for forge actuator and fit - then bolt turbo on
fabricate custom 3" downpipe and fit
custom oil return into sump
Fit coolant lines
Buy and fit new oil feed line
Make custom adaptor to fit VR6 throttle body (and probably adapt boost pipe slightly)
Possibly making a new turbo > fmic boost pipe to allow for more space for the air filter
Fit Spal slimline fan - and wire up once ecu in..
Modify cable throttle pedal so it fits - then fit cable to VR6 tb
Fit 3 bar map sensor
fit dump valve
Wire in standalone ecu (I believe this may have finally arrived)
fit ARP rod bolts
fit ACL race engine bearings... (these have just arrived)

Not much to do - should have SORN'd the car...

Yes Warren - probably....

Graham - the car was running very rough, I think the standard ecu just didnt like running a boosted engine... the car would cough and splutter then misfire under mild throttle. so I decided to go stand alone... but then figured why not do it properly with a new turbo, then manifold etc etc etc....

So, went to see my car last night, Dave and I made some progress....

Actuator bracket is done, fabricated and painted... fitted this to the turbo... no pictures though...





Started making progress on the downpipe, made a shopping list, and went shopping this morning...
Purchased: a 3" 180 bend, 40cm on 3", two lambda bosses and bungs, and a 3" flexi pipe.



Also - my DTA ecu arrived at Saxon Motorsport today



next plans are to finishing making the oil return pipe...

and ordering pipework and oil feed lines....

a little package arrived today - my gosh K&N are efficient, only ordered this on Friday...

Its 5" x 5" with an inside diamater of 3" to fit straight on to turbo

So, went down to see Dave on Friday and complete with Monster drinks, we finished the exhaust system, this now means the entire system is done...







Will have a 2.5" v band clamp, so have welded on flanges to allow easy fitting/ removal... Also welded one to the cat pipe so can be easily swapped for MoT



Then, we wrapped it



Compared to the regal/ dbilas one:



Under the car:



the turbo from underneath:



The new oil feed is also done, along with aeroguip fittings, just need to complete the oil return.
