You should be really proud of this car once its on the road (I wont say finished as a project car like this is Never finished!)

Thanks, glad people notice the attention to detail! I have always wanted to do a car like this and I'm proud to say thats 99% off the work I have done my self and 100% I have helped but it has still cost alot and i mean alot but its not there as an investment...... (LOL rubbish way to invest) I just love doing car builds

I can't wait for it to be on the road hopefully about two weeks

Thanks once again

Well had bit time on the car this weekend although I don't feel like i have done alot

First off set about spraying some more bracket etc, grouped into the colours

Then the finished product

Then i set about fitting my M-tec f28 quick shift linkage

First off line up the gearknob (both holes with 5mm)

Then onto lining up the gearbox (once again a 5mm)

Then i went to fit linkage with nylon bushes and it wouldn't fit in the gap where the centre pin holds the arm, what ever way i looked at it and tried! So i tried it on a spare rear mount and it went straight in! So nothing else for it but to remove the rear mount and check it! Once removed I found that it was bent from when i crashed Ronnie last year ( whoops a painted part for nothing) So i took the spare and modified that and put that in the power coating pile

Then I moved onto the alternator

Fitted Dizzy

Thats about all so i feel i have gone one step forward three back oh well hopefully get loads done this week/weekend

Cheers Dale

How much was the battery jacket from vaux mate and are they available in different sizes?

Seen one on a astra at the scrap yard but the battery was huge compared to my corsa battery.

They don't make a battery bag any longer for the Corsa and they do make other sizes for other models! I get on really well with guys at vaux in parts ( funny that considering all the money I spent there!) Darren (parts guy) told me that the one i got is as close as possible to the orginal size he could get! I haven't tried it on the battery yet tho but he said he has and fits fine was around £35! Part number 90507581

aye you have to for std linkage and in novas etc.

first off mine was hitting on the spacer that was welded to the mount. then secondly had to bend part of the linkage more than i originally did as it was hitting the steering rack. as for quick shift its no different to the std linkage i previously had. weird eh. also using the locking tools didnt get all gears. had to be a 2 man job. one to locate other to loosen and tighten the nut. probably just me that has these dramas though.

ok well i will cut the linkage in the week and get on it and let you know! I remember doing the XE's were a 2 man job, i never used to use the drill bits to line them up, so i thought i would have a go this way this time!

Thanks, yer should be a good weekend

Started to fit my gauges last night

First off i used the heater plug for my feed and earths as it was next to the vents

Black is switched and brown earth i used the thin black wire (Feed) as this only feed the illumination of the heaters

then i taped that up

Fitted top half of centre vents, with 2 holes drilled through to run the wires through

Inside the vent

Underneath the vent

Next ran the wires through the vents and taped up, i used bullet connections so i can always remove the gauge if i have any problems

Same again with the gauge

and the tested with ignition on

and ignition off

Now i just need the run the wires to all the sensors and wire the LC1 kit in

Cheers

I'm sorry big man but they look gay. Can't you do away with the ashtray, and put them in front of the gear stick, in a box?

I know he didn't want a pillar pod, or drill the dash.

Jonny what did you do about your hazard switch?

Cheers for the comments but the gauges are staying where they are IMO gauges are function over form! If i fitted a piller pod it would still stick out and not look OEM, same if i fitted my pod that sits on top of the date and time, looked like a frog = shit again! As for putting them lower down, I did this with my friends cupra and i found you can't see them! I like them where they are

Got more done today

First off my weekly trip to Vauxhall

Got the last Dipstick in the network (vaux dealers) as its no longer made, Good times

Then i cracked on with fitting my LC-1 kit

First off i drilled holes for the LED and calibration button, i want to keep it all in the same area and I thought this would be the best area

Drilled the heater panel, only negative is I can no longer slide to re-circulation but i never used it anyway

I then routed all my wires and joined up as the fitted instructions stated, I have changed my earth for gauges now as i found there was to much resistance on the line I was using and the LC1 kit advise all the earth points to be in the same place and as its wideband I don't want any noise on the line so i have gone straight to the battery earth!

Started to rebuild

and how it looks with ignition off

and ignition on

Cheers

this is why i don't like piller pods and you can see the "frog" gauge holder
