Right i think mine has just gone up the spout.
Plugged in a set of headphones still no sound, would this mean that the sound card is bust. Seems strange as one hour it was working and the next it wasnt. 
Anything i can do just to confirm it is the soundcard and not the speakers?

go into device manager, is there an '!' over the icon?
Also, what make/model is the sound card (can be found from device manager). it may pay to update the drivers for it just in case.

Is device manager in the ontrol panel becuase i cant seem to see it
I have no idea what make the sound card is as it a dell PC . I presume it could just be and internal one

yeah it will be internal onboard, just reinstall drivers, f that dont work get another, not creative if your on vista

How come?
Although the creative drivers are beta, I have two different creative cards with machines running vista with no problems at all (gaming pc & media center).

where am i likely to find the drivers because i have just looked through all the stuff from dell and there isnt a sound card driver CD .
What do i do now. Where can i get the drivers from

goto dell.com, put your service tag number into their screen and it'll give you all the relevant drivers you need.
