Made some really good progress today thanks for the help of Dan (Dan) for the engine work and Rob (big*boy*rob) for his help with the fab work etc!

Firstly, cleaned the head out loads, pressure washed it, bathed it and all sorts to remove the swarf from grinding the head out for cam love clearence! Also had to clean the double valve springs which were a fucker to clean!

Dan then removed the old valve stem seals and pushed on the new "slim-line" ones which proved to be alot better for the double valve springs.

All the valves were then put in, and the collets put on which left us with this:

Next task for Dan was to put the wossner pistons & PEC steel conrods in, as the new piston ring came to replace the one that belt up last time...

Freshly bored

Looks awesome i think, shame it wont be seen!

They really are raised out of the block compression FTW!

Next was to put the play-doh in for the clearance test! Looks stupid i know but hey ho, needs doing. Also put the remainer of the ARP head studs in!

Then added a few other bits, water pump etc!

To finish off, finished building the head up, all cam caps torqued down etc. I think it looks really smart and is good to see it coming together!

Me and Robs got to work on the rear floor fab work, we got the rear floor piece cut out and also adapted the front dash bar to fit better and sit over the steering columb:

Also got my chrome dipstick / breather tube through, and the original dipstick had to have the vacuum hose treatment to finish it off:

dont wana sound stupid, but you have made sure none of the ring gaps are near the thrust side of the pistons? just i wouldnt wana risk scoring the bores thats all.

hope you'll get it done and at PV, be good to see if you get it on the strip, mite see if want a head to head

Decided to get the rocker cover all ready, so removed the oil baffle plate and cleaned off the silicone seal.

Then cut it as i only want to use top corner (breather mod):

Secured the bit of baffle plate down that i will be using using 3 of the original screws:

I then cleaned it out properly and fitted the gasket ready to bolt to the head:

And then put on the oil filler cap:

what kind of compression will the engine have when all built up?
Why did you take out the wheel well?

Not sure on the compression tbh mate.
I took out the whole rear floor mate, i wanted it flat sheeted as i think it looks alot better and is more practical for my fuel cell.

Raised? Its the lines of the chassis mate, if you have ever stripped a corsa you will know.

Fuel pump? isnt there anymore all the fuel system has been removed. Pay attention lol!

just a quicky
but through my experiance from listening to engine builders your bores look to have a straight circular patttern i was told and shown them to have a curved crosshatch effect?
maybe your close up picture doesnt show it properly or i could be wrong?
but thats what ive been told and shown in the past as it helps reduce friction with the piston there for gaining minor improvement in power.

good build though!

Birchieboy - Not too sure tbh mate i cant really see much in it tbh. It was done my a well experienced engine engineers who have been running for years.

The pic does however make the bores out to be a lot more coarse than they are, camera flash i think

i have stripped a corsa mines stripped down at the mo lol.
the metal sheeting in the back that you have welded in im on about!
thats not the lines of a corsa lol as the bit above the fuel tank is normally lower.

suppose the fuel cell will need something solid to bolt on to and the bars will strengthen it back up again?
