Car appears to be running fine. however the ecu light is coming on after about 20mins into a journey and stays on until the car is turned off. The process then starts again.

The paper clip test shows them to be the following:

> Primary ignition (distributor systems) high voltage (43)

>Amplifier control signal, cylinders 2 and 3 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) low voltage (63)

>Amplifier control signal, cylinders 1 and 4 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) low voltage (64)

its an X16xe btw.

Where is a good place to start looking around the ignition system.

Just had a mantzel fitted is it related?

Thanks Gavin

So its probably not related to the new parts that were fitted?

The starter motor mounting bolt directly to the battery negative terminal is the main earth.

There are 1/2 on the throttle body(which you must have undone to fit the inlet), so it may be them ones.

Yer they are the ones we think it is, going to extend the wires and run them to the main earth on the starter moter bolt that you mentioned.

Just got to get some time during the day when its not chucking it down

Right Tried another earth point today but this hasent solved the problem. Earthed it on the lower inlet as well as the battery earth, still getting the codes and ECU light though

Any more suggestions, seems to come on after a short while and when your down shifting coming up to junctions etc. Once its on it stays on until you switch the car off.

that fault is the egr valve i think i get the same with mine since fitting the inlet, car runs ok but light comes on ive got egr fault its because its been blocked where the triangle plate is, can be solved by blocking the hole where the egr bolts on and leaving the valve free to air instead i think

I had the 43 fault code on mine as well, changed the DIS pack and it made no difference. Being that mine has a X16XE lower and upper inlet on a C16XE I think the earthing problem might be my problem.

Not sure what yours is though.
