I had the 43 fault code on mine as well, changed the DIS pack and it made no difference. Being that mine has a X16XE lower and upper inlet on a C16XE I think the earthing problem might be my problem.

Not sure what yours is though.

that fault is the egr valve i think i get the same with mine since fitting the inlet, car runs ok but light comes on ive got egr fault its because its been blocked where the triangle plate is, can be solved by blocking the hole where the egr bolts on and leaving the valve free to air instead i think

Any more suggestions, seems to come on after a short while and when your down shifting coming up to junctions etc. Once its on it stays on until you switch the car off.

Right Tried another earth point today but this hasent solved the problem. Earthed it on the lower inlet as well as the battery earth, still getting the codes and ECU light though :|

Yer they are the ones we think it is, going to extend the wires and run them to the main earth on the starter moter bolt that you mentioned.

Just got to get some time during the day when its not chucking it down :|

The starter motor mounting bolt directly to the battery negative terminal is the main earth.

There are 1/2 on the throttle body(which you must have undone to fit the inlet), so it may be them ones.

thats right mate its the earth had the same fault with mine when i fitted my manifold, i ofrgot the earth i connected it to the blanking plate on the side of where the throttle body used to go, just used one of them bolts

that is where it is earthed atm, may try somewhere else to see if it cures it

I am going to try and re earth what i think is the problem tomorow. Where is the most reliable earth point to try within the engine bay that is easily accessable?

No not the bit circled, thats what is to be ignored

aye I have just had a u2u saying it could be the earth that bolts onto where the throttle body used to be. Where is that in this pic? (ignore the red circle and that fact that it desperatly needs a clean  )

Check the earths.

So its probably not related to the new parts that were fitted?

Robin

New DISpack needed.

Car appears to be running fine. however the ecu light is coming on after about 20mins into a journey and stays on until the car is turned off. The process then starts again.

The paper clip test shows them to be the following:

> Primary ignition (distributor systems) high voltage (43)

>Amplifier control signal, cylinders 2 and 3 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) low voltage (63)

>Amplifier control signal, cylinders 1 and 4 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) low voltage (64)

its an X16xe btw.

Where is a good place to start looking around the ignition system.

Just had a mantzel fitted is it related?

Thanks Gavin
