Ok so my fan doesn't "kick in" when the engine gets hot, or even really hot! I've tried bridging the connectors on the wire and it does come on 
So... what new part is needed? Fan switch? Thermostat?

Fan switch isn't too expensive to fix, mine went a short while ago!
