Hi my lad has a problem with his car starting. He was 17 yesterday and the car wqs fine for 6 months while he could not drive it! now he has passed his theory today he wants it to start and its doing my head in.
I have read up on the paper clip trick and this is what we get.
Ok not sure if this helps you or me but having done the paper clip test we get.
codes
1405 Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve
1503 Immobiliser control unit!
0412 Secondary control valve
1100 ????
1640 knock control unit or quad drive module
0335 Crank sensor
0105 Intake manifold pressure sensor
Now some of these could be because we can not check the codes while the engine is running as it does not run. Not even for a few seconds anymore!
I am concerned we have immobiliser and crank sensor showing though!
This could prove to be one hard nut to crack. stupid cars......LOL
Oh and we know why the EGR valve is showing...its missing!
hope yours is now fixed with a new crank sensor as i ned to know how difficult it is to fit a new one!
Any idea appreciated??
Oh btw it does have enough fuel..LOL

Does the ecu light flash when you start the car/turn the ignition on?
Also check the hose between the upper inlet and the Map sensor( and check its plug) on the firewall, as the ecu need that reading for the engine to run.

If it flashes, theres something wrong with the immobiliser circuit(hence the code), and thats why it dies immediately after starting it.

Flashing ECU light means a fault with the factory immobiliser.
Have you got a spare key for the car mate? Give that a go first of all.

Ok more info to work with The muppet (my SON) had actually lost the chip out of the key...hence not starting.
We have had two keys done and the keys mapped to the immobilizer.
MMMMmm we now have another problem. The engine now starts but it goes to max revs. Then it drops to idle but hunts like hell. The weird thing is it now revs to maximum even with a very very small press of the accelerator .
The brakes are crap BUT your foot does drop when you start the car so I think the vacuum is working and its probably because it has been stood for a while.
Any ideas on these electronic problems??
Thanks in advance
