neither. the ecu controls fuel mixture, not the air filter.
generally people fit induction kits and put their foot down more for the noise, that uses more petrol.

Cheers for that dave, I thought that because more air got to the induction kit that it made the engine work harder and used more fuel.

that theory is true to an extent, but the engine doesnt use any more air, just gets it with less restriction.
a standard x16xe gets about 36mpg and my 177 bhp x16xe gets about 36mpg. work that one out

Might be strange but I put the derestriced air box on and took off the induction kit.
It sounds alot more bassy from the engine and it feels quicker, this normal?
