update:

been very busy elsewhere this week (putting back together the car that belongs to the painter who re-sprayed the wasp, sorting out my gf's wing, and generally just being v.busy

but today got some done, had a look at the suspension arms and the front anti-roll bar and they looked a mess, so decided they needed a decent tidy up, got the arms and used 3M purple wire wheel to clean up the suspension arms, conparison pic;

then got the anti-roll bar and stripped it apart and removed all the surface rust

next keyed up all the other parts that didnt have rust and laid em out and painted em all matt black

and then they wer dry, 1 much better looking and neater front suspension

oh and i stripped one of the Astra GTE brakes apart the other day and gave them a clean up and gave the caliper a good solid doze of black hammerite, much better

more soon (hopefully some engine parts )

and also gave one of the carriers a good going over in hammerite

plus even better, just got off the phone with Chris at ChrisAstleyMotorsport and ordered the following

Roll bar lowering blocks
ARP Flywheel bolts
Clutch kit
Uprated sump gasket
Spark Plugs
HT Leads
And a full set of Roose Motorsport Hoses for a Corsa B conversion
(all the hoses are in yellow :thumbs

the track car takes a big step towards being finished WHOO!

but at the mean time im leaving it, originally both bumpers wer gonna be matt black anyway (in the likely event of me stacking it on the track)

Ok project back on track this week, so plenty of engine work to do

got the XE back on an engine stand im borrowing from one of the fitters, and got it all on during lunch (bit fiddly but good thing work has an engine crane )

and as my B doesnt have power steering, i decided it was coming off so if anyone wants a C20XE power steering pump, bracket and belt let me know

saved a bit of weight too lol, and seeing as i had em close to hand decided to whack on my painted covers, and i think it looks soo cool

just waiting for some of my parts to show up from Chris Astley motorsport and i can crack on further

Hey peeps little update from friday, got some new gaskets on the way so decided to get the engine ready for them to go on so first removed the inle manifold and took the manky on gasket off

next the sump gasket was gone

and for piece of mind decided on a new cambelt while i was here, all piss easy to remove and will be much better for the engine i feel, this was how i left it until monday

also checked the crank beforehand and one of the mech peeps said it looked fine and hadnt been ragged but looked after, plus turned the crank manually with the cam belt still on and was getting the usual resistance/compression so all in all looks healthy for the track car, just need to get this bugger running!! more soon
