Hi, I ran over a pigeon today, but just before I hit it I slammed on my
brakes, but I still got the stupid bird, the abs light now stays on, does
anyone know why please?

has it been on since you restarted the car?
Could be some dead pidgeor wrapped round the driveshaft/sensor if it stays on?

It was on constantly when I was driving home. I looked under the car and there is no remains of the pigeon, I got it under the front wheel, I was lucky it didn't hit the bumper, I'll go out later and see if it comes on again

I'm not posh i haven't got abs but a hit a bastard rabbit and smashed my front bumper!!! 
might have hit your wear level on your pads if they have them the sensor comes on to tell you when you need to change your discs and pads that might be it?

it goes off now!
I hope I don't have to change anything with the brakes, they're 2.5l v6 vectra brakes!
Does it come on when there is a problem with the brakes then?

Yes the light comes on to tell you you have a fualt on the abs system. But in my experience they will come on after a very sharp brake. If the wheel locks (when in theory it shouldnt) the sensor thinks its faulty and puts a light on!

My mates 55 plate fezza does this, is she brakes hard the abs light comes on andgoes of when she restarts the engine!
