Right, basically, i've a nova sport engine just lying in the garage doing nothing.
I've been meaning to finish my nova "project" but i cant really afford the respray at the minute and Im dying to get that engine running again because its just been rebuilt and want to get something faster than my crappy astra si on the road

So, im in two minds to sell the nova and astra, buy a corsa and throw the engine in.
Sounds easy, doesnt it....
But, i've never really noticed too many small block 8v Corsa's with 40's on. Is there a reason for this? Too much hassle etc?

Also, I have a Facet silvertop fuel pump and a filterking regulator, so fueling shouldnt be too much of a problem.
I know the mounts etc are all the same, but will there be a problem with electrics, cooling, clearance etc etc.

Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Decky

think the main reason is that the corsa is haevier than th nova and a small block is just not powerful enuf for most peiples liking.
im puttin a 16 8v into my corsa decky.
would u consider changin the engine yourself?
the mounts are the same, etc the egnine will fit no bother
depending on what engine as in the corsa before then itll be fine, just buy a 1.2 8v and then all is the same etc

but personally id keep the sport engine buy the nova shell or keep ur own and do a nova sport replica!

most people stick a redtop in instead of tuning the smaller engines as it cost less to get a bigger benifit

nova sport engine should be in a nova sport, especially if it has the sport 40's on and even more so if you have the irmy airbox!

Plus its not going to be that quick tbh in a corsa, only about 85bhp...

Plus what will the insurance be like when you inform them you've got a t40'd engine etc.

It would go straight in tho and if you really wanted do it.

only 8v to put in a corsa is a 2.0 8v, even at that it makes more sense to xe it..

engine conversion should be straightforward if u insist in doing it..

@ casper - why are u putting a 1.6 8v into ur corsa?? why not an 1.6 16v?? easier sourced engine imo and quicker with more potential

good idea IMO plenty of 8v low-mid range torque, should be decent enough providing its set up nicely.

I stuck a C16SE into my Corsa and well pleased with the results....but that said I've never driven a Corsa with an XE in it

The step up from a 1.1 Fezzie to C16SE'd Corsa has been enough for now methinks....maybe in another year I'll drop a 2.0l in her or source another shell and work on that instead...all depending.

I paid a oner for the engine (from an Astra Expression) and it had just been rebuilt.....thought I was quite lucky tbh.

1.6 8 valve is better than a 1.6 16 valve any way.if your gunna put a 16 valve engine in use a redtop.

Too old? most of them are only as old as a 20xe.

IMO, it's a good idea with the 1.6, 1.3 is a bit wheezy, but the 1.6 is a good engine.

well the nova gsi engine finished in 1993?? altho maybe same engine carried on in other models??

i know wot u are saying but the xe is a highly regarded engine and has alot of potential etc with 150bhp to start with.

the nova engine is fine but imo its better kept in a nova and not put in a corsa.

buy the engine and rebuild it. just dont think its worth the hassle

the E/C16SE has 100bhp, and better torque than a C/X16XE, you can buy one for about £30, rebuild it, and have a fully rebuilt engine for about £150, which will still perform as well as a shabby, but expensive C/X16XE.

I know of lots of 16SEs with over 150bhp, Carbed, Turbod and TBd, so it's definitely worth a shot IMO.

140-150bhp is possible from a e/c16se using the standard throttle body and inlet manifold...
