that nova is awesome. no matter wot the skyline driver was thinking / doing it doesn't matter, that nova was all over it. then passed it, whether that was due to the skyline backing out or wot.

winning's winning, whether thats by an inch or a mile!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the GTR boys realising that it wasn't a standard skyline that just got passed
http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/53497-r33-track-video.html?highlight=Nova

Turns out the skyline has a lot more than 400bhp, try 557bhp http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/47478-shes-back.html

im not argueing, im just using the film as evidence to back up what i said.

and again on a point raised elsewhere in this thread, the spend the sam on the skyline then so whats faster, utter crap. tuning the nova is what a set of tb's, so 1500 quid. what will 1500 get you on a skyline ak? suspension maybe? not even a decent intercooler and ecu.

yes.... so....

We are now comparing a std suspension 2.0 nova

1500 will buy you a TB kit... needs mapped etc, other bits and bobs, so say budget realisticaly 2500.

That will get you......

Steel turbos... ECU map.... boost controller. About 450bhp at 1.2bar.

voila.

the skyline will 100% be FASTER. The nova will, i'm sure, not be faster round a track on std suspension.

Take the std nova 1.0 and spend your 2500
Take the std R33 GTR and spend 2500.

hmmmm. I know the purchase prices are miles apart... but so are the re-sale!

well you cant argue this and then say the purchase price aswell as all day long you wouldnt spend anywhere near as much on the nova to make it faster than the skyline was to buy.

1500 for steel turbo's? shitty copies and not proper ones im assuming? if i was to tune a skyline it would have to have proper parts and proper monet spent on it. 1500 is only enough for a good decent single turbo, nevermind 2 of them.

anyway, who really cares anyway???? the nova won

copies of turbo's ????? eh?

The std turbo's in 33GTR are ceramic.... good upto 1 bar. You can have those rebuilt for within 1500.

You can also buy N1 turbos (better still) for that price range.

A skyline is a car, the same principles apply You dont HAVE to add a 0 onto the price just because!

You pay 1500 per turbo on the corsa ??

The nova won. Were they really racing??!!?? who knows!

I remember going up to crail on the RR, getting my knee down round the twisty bits and generally having fun... I get to crail and a guy approaches me laughing at how he "kept up" with me. Even when i didnt even know he was there and with your knee on the ground its not the fastest way to corner, so well done, you "kept up" with someone not even trying.

the point is - the skyline probably didnt even bother about some guy in a quick nova - he's not the one with something to prove. the only way to tell how shit the skyline is - get the same guy to lap in the nova then in the liner... compare the times. And he beat a noble? same example of someone clearly not bothering about a 'lesser' vehicle 'cos the noble should have wiped the floor with it!

point of fact, keeping up is not beating. and because you THINK your in a race - doesnt make it so.
Anyway back to the point, the only way to tell how shite the liner is, is to get the nova driver in both cars.

i think most people are ignoring / missing the point here. The whole 'if you spend x on y car then it'll be better than spending a on b' is a load of rubbish. Or that if you take standard car A and compare it to standard car B then A is clearly better.
What is being demonstrated by that video (apart from driver skill differences) is the fact that a guy can take an 80's shopping car (One that in its standard form is frankly not spectactular ) and improve it in his own garage to such a degree that it is capable of out-performing a vehicle that has millions of pounds of development, and was designed and developed with performance at the very core of its being.

rant over

they're on a track ffs, they haven't gone there to drive normally! If you were talking about on the road then obviously you can't always tell that they are racing...but if your at a track chances are they've gone there to drive quick!
