buy a £1500 nova, spend £8.5k on it, and can maybe then sell it for about £3k

buy a £10k skyline...keep it for a few years and you will not lose the same amount of money

8.5k WTF

If you spent 8.5k on a Nova I would expect it to fly let alone go fast around a track.

as said that skyline driver couldnt drive, or maybe thought better of risking his lovely car against the tinny nova up his bottom.

Am sure if it was me driving them both I would push the nova a lot harder than if I owned the skyline

edited to say, I aint taking anything away from the nova, it does seem fast and a lot of fun

Regardless of what the cars are, can't really comment as nobody knows the standards of the drivers, it could have been some guys first go on a trackday or anything like that. Obviously it shows that the nova is fast, you cant take that away from it considering its probably looked like this to start with;

The nova maybe fast round the track.
It maybe running slicks etc

Spend any sort of money on the nova to get it to KEEP UP WITH a skyline is wasted money

Spending to make the skyline quicker is a waste too.

BUT....

my skyline for example...

must be sitting near 7k now and will be running prob about 380bhp (with boost up at 1.0bar)....

slicks
light weight 10" alloys
brake mods
cage
Torque Split Controller
Oil cooler
baffled sump

My corsa on the other hand is 20k+

ROLL REVERSAL ANYONE!!!

Yes... My corsa was quicker ROUND the track when they were both on... but i was expecting it! The skyline had std brakes/suspension and shite tyres. The corsa has had 2.5k thrown at susp/wheels/tyres/brakes

Another factor was that the corsa had the 'dont give a shit' factor, and i was used to its handling.... and grip. The skyline was like being on track for the 1st time again. Experience means a lot... familarity with the car means a lot

A skyline is a skyline - a big powerfull car, not really suited to mixing it up with sorted nova cereal boxes on twisty corners.

Your car couyld be built for a lot less than £20k form scratch the £20k includes change of plans and misfortunes along the way.

I Would rather a skyline however it cost wat more to prep a skyline to the same sort of level as a trackday corsa

Therfore corsa wins as this is corsasport.co.uk

The Nova in the video is Owned by DAR (Darren) off Novaload, its a 2.0 16v with Throttle Bodies kicking out just below 200bhp if I remember correctly. Its running coilovers, a Diff and Semi slick road legal tyres.

In the video it is being seriously held up by the Skyline, as mentioned the skyline driver can not take a racing line to save his life! But on the straights there's not a lot in it.

I know which car i'd prefer to take on track! And it isn't the heavyweight Boat!

But if you see a skyline go quick you think nothing of it, it's expected but you see a nova/corsa go quick you think 'impressive'

The skyline was far from standard, can't remember the BHP figure but it was well in excess of 400.

I believe it's a guy called Dar from Novaload, will go and have a look now and report back any findings......

EDIT: I should read the whole thread rather than just the first page!
