its blown 3 times in about a month, i used a cheap bulb to start with but last 2 have been good quality and they keep blowing i have no idea why this is? anyone?

get a multimeter on it and see what current the wiring is providing, as it sounds like the bulb is recieving more current than it can handle and its blowing it ??? (Disclaimer: I don't know much about electrics, so the above could well be complete rubbish !!)

well power (watts) = Voltage (12V) * Current (amps)
So if the bulbs power rating is like 12W, the the current needs to be 1A (ie. Power/Voltage = Current, therefore 12W/12V = 1A)
