Thats where it seems to be coming from , very loud.

Have tried thicker oil / oil change etc as I thought it was tappets/lifters but now I'm thinking injectors are making all the noise ?

Anyway I could clean these or sort the problem ?

Cheers

injector tapping is something u may not be able to get rid of even by cleaning, only way to be sure is to try it!

But how ?

The tapping is really loud could it still be the injectors ?

is it a c16 or x16xe? if so, cud it be ur inlet gasket blowing? or is it defo the injectors? could try putting some cleaning stuff in with the fuel n give it a try?

its an x16xe bottom end with c16xe head.

Would the inlet gasket make this amount of noise ?

Sounds like a diesel !

any missfiring? bad idling? cutting out? if so, run the engine and pour water down the back of the inlet so ur pouring it directly where the head and inlet meet, if it sprays back at u or u get steam or anything like that from it, the gasket is gone!

Took the inlet off tonight and checked the gasket which was fine.

Refitted it and made sure all the bolts were tight.

Also put injector cleaner in but its done nothing.

The tapping/clicking is coming from around the centre area of the injectors ?

Car is running miles better now , i.e driveable but this is due to me getting the speedo working and fitting a new cts

is it on idle, or when u rev it towards 2-3000 rpm? is the noise present around the timing cover side of the engine or defo around the inlet manifold? could be just noisy injectors, or poss a noisy cambelt tensioner? its hard to say without hearing it for myself

Its much more likely to be the camshaft/tappets making the sound. try an oil treatment in it. does having the car warm or cold make any difference?

Warm or cold no difference mate.

Car is definetly ticking from the the middle of the lower manifold at the injectors.

Goes away after about 3k but only because engine noise drowns it out

ye thats the next step pal, i'd suggest the tappets if it wasnt the manifold, but without hearing the noise for myself, i could be just pissing in the wind!

Tried engine flush and 70k plus oil today , no difference.

This was rebuilt head therefore I cant understand why the tappets would be fubard.

What if I were to replace the injectors ?

as ive been sayin m8, cud be injectors, but without diagnosing it myself its hard to say. what about taking it to ur nearest vx dealer and askin one of the tech's to pop his head under the bonnet?

with engine running unplug one of the injectors to see if the noise get's quieter, if it does then it's noisy injectors.
Injectors are just solanoids at the end of the day and can get noisy I suppose.

i dont think this may work as it will only make ur engine misfire or possibly cut out, although it could be possible.
