noise can only be heard after bout 1.5k rpm, seems to be coming from where the plastic inlet pipe joins the bottom of the throttle body, the noise can be constantly heard when driving

also just wondering how easy it would be to chop the part that hangs down just to make the car a bit more responsive and if it would be worth it.

on my 205 it was the exhaust manifold that caused this noise

the RR has it too... very faint though, and i beleive its the exhaust manifold too

good call adam, could well be the manifold blowing a tiny bit

if you chop the collector off, it will not be as good pulling away from a junction

why is this, isnt this just starving the engine of air?

its there to keep a bit of extra air in the inlet soo when you pull away, its not struggling for air, also, it quietens the inlet noise, so removing it will probably make the car sound louder

dont lose any bolts down the inlet. thats a good tip.

as long as you have the right tools then its not difficult. easier to take the whole inlet off than just the plastic pipe.

its not exhaust as weve already replaced the gasket on that, it does definitely sound like its coming from the inlet.

need all the right tools, lots of torx bits etc to remove and some fiddly bolts to remove the inlet manifold from the head. also, the water pipes from the head and the throttle body need to come off as well as needing a new inlet manifold gasket.

a new gasket from the manifold to the head or one connecting the top part to the lower inlet?
