will i be able to put a c16 head on my x16 block??..is it a straight swap??

on the sbd site, theres a modified head oil way??.... these any good?

well i sent it away to get ported and polished thinking i had bought a c16xe head but i found out it was the x16xe so just going to use it as i have been told it will work fine

does a polished port make much difference??...
as most people are using a standard lower inlet which has 12" or so of unpolished casting........

A mantzel inlet makes a hell of an increase on these engines. This is not polished, it makes a shorter inlet tract. It's the length of the inlet and the bends that are no good.

a mantzel bolts on to the 'rough casted' lower inlet tho

polishing of the inlets isnt all that tbh you need some turbulence in the inlet. Polishing of the exhausts is more important.

Yes flowing it out will help, but it's faily difficult to, and woudl you really feel the 0.5BHP you'd get??

where did i say that it would happen in the inlet manifold?

i said by polishing the inlet manifold causes it to happen.

flowing it wouldnt help as the air coming in need some sort of friction causing it to mix the fuel and air. this is why when the head is polished the inlet valves are left a bit ruff. it was gary from migweb that told me the above

Do you have any idea how "rough" a rough finish is on the head?

Polishing the inlet before the fuel goes in will be fine, and how you'd get a polished finish on the inlet anyways.

The finish you're aiming for is similar to rubbing the port with some 600 grit wet and dry, which I think's pretty smooth not like a gravel drive.

Gary has done several heads for me, his work is brilliant, but think you have to see it know what rough means

Also the upper inlet can be polsihed, the transition to the on to the rougher sruface woudl generate suffient turbulent flow to allow a good mix.

UPDATE - hopefully buying alex gsi's engine now complete c16xe
