my cousin has been tampering with his car for a while and has somehow managed to loose his panel air filter... probably threw it away. he is currently using a bit of sponge that fits perfectly into the space about 3cm think. will this do tha job at least temporarly? i cannot see why but dnt want his motor to blow up. its a 1.2 16v corsa 1999.

the sponge is overflapping the airbox a little at the end and is being gripped by the edge of the box tightly to prevent such a thing and it fits very well. if it didnt get sucked in what over damage cud it do.
