Hi,the orange engine light came on in my car today it's a 1.6 sport,car was running fine then cut out and hardly starts.When it does start it splutters then cuts out and won't tick over at all unless i keep revs on.Any ideas?

Sounds like the ICV (idle control valve) maybe?

i thought tht actually, altho when mine went, it never had trouble starting. Could be hole in tht rubber manifold part?or am i talkin bullshit

if it is the I.C.V. take it out and clean it with carb and choke cleaner. should do the trick

Could be, my haynes manual says inlet manifold leaks can cause engine stalls, but would a leak bring the EM light on?

Anybody have any pictures of the icv?and what tools do i need?i will buy a haynes manual next week just need car for saturday if i can sort it.thx

yeah it would, absolute manifold pressure readings would be off the scale, EM wont like it at all
