could you please tell me the signs of the head gasket going on a corsa b sport 1.4

the probs im having are

very bad from cold spluttering its tits off also when car is warm but only when sat still with the engine

temp needle going to the top (boiling point) when im driving on the road

and it drinking water not that bad but need to keep filling it up

no signs at all from water leaking on the floor etc etc..........

strange



if you could help on this it would be great

Mayo in the coolant bottle?

ofen presseded by a watery kinda sound in the engine bay. thats what mine did anyway

ive heard the watery sound when im in the car sat still and rev it slowly it sounds like the water is being flushed aroud my engine

i think its the gasket then

thats the heater matrix makin the flushing sound, they do it sometimes. sounds to me like headgasket has defo gone to me m8!!

cheers for that whats the heater matrix for then my heaters work up until the fan comes on must be going as well

is it a big job the the gasket change?
alot of money as well???????

yeah, i'd say itd be a couple hundred quid from a back street garage or if you took it to a vauxhall main dealer like the one i work at, they'll charge u 5 hours labour + parts. and its £60 an hr plus parts!!!! is it 8 or 16v

16v 1.4 sport alot of money really to say a gasket set is about £40 one thing after another had the same probs with another corsa last year but the idiots who i bought it from they took the engine manag light out the dash!
i think it just eco-tec need redtop bad lol

1.4 16v headgasket is a bastard to do, dont trap the knock sensor wire when putting the head back on, cus its a nightmare to get to!!!

can a gone head gasket or one it's way out cause leaking oil down the engine and off the sump?

can do.

Ive just done a headgasket on mine, cost a total of £40. if u have the tools just buy a haynes manual and have a go at DIY
