Evening all,

I have fitted a Mantzel to my X16Xe, all pipes present and correct, no leaks.

When i give the car a pasting, the ECU light comes on.

Turn car off, start, and light stays off.

Turn on no light, give car pasting, light comes on.

Anyone shed any light on the subject?

Its to do with the egr valve.

Just ignore it all will be fine.

Dont ignor it because as soon as it come on and logs a fault the ECU will put the car into limp home mode. And it will stay this way till cleared or the problem is fixed, i had a mantzel on my C16XE gsi and it was chipped by mantzel, if i booted it when it hit 7750rpm the ECU light would come on, the ECU was shitting its self because it was working the injectors too hard and i was gettin injector valve high voltage code coming up. The C16XE has no EGR so it was defo not this, bad mapping by Mantzel, get a unichip

ive done about 5 mantzel / dbilas inlets now. all on different cars. all of them includidng mine showed up the egr fault!

on a more positive note, the egr fault doesnt put the car into limp home mode, so no probs in just ignoring it.

one way to solve it i found was to fit the copper pipe from the egr feed on the side of the inlet manifold into the mantzel box (most people just blank it off) this stopped the egr light coming on on mine.

Who dug this bugger up

Just a bit of an update. My ECU light now doesn't come on very often. The plate on the EGR takeoff was leaking when the manifodl was fitted and now has sealed itself up, might be something to do with this?

This seems to have helped the problem, the light only comes on when it's cold outside, 0-7 degrees. Above this, doesn't come on.

Hi guys, fraid i'm gonna dig this one up again, just fitted a mantzel to my x14xe sport, ive got a plate blanking the egr, thing is, it looks like i could (if i wanted to) put the egr back on, just need to extend the loom. just want to know if anyone has a mantzel and hasnt blanked off the egr, or if anyone knows why i shouldnt put it back, that would be great. (note EGR not secondary air pump) Also thinkin of gettin a chipped ecu second hand-thoughts? Cheers guys

to be honest if your having probelms which you cant seem to fix when running a mantzel style manifold on a x14xe or a x16xe, the best solution (which i did do on my x14xe but now i have converted to c16xe power) is to put a complete c16xe loom/ecu/sensors on the engine, made a huge diffarence with my manifold on the x14xe, my mates mantzel'd gsi could not touch me (same spec except for mine was 1400 and stripped out). its alot better with the c16xe loom/ecu ect as this loom does not have any of the EGR or Air Injection system at all.. any more help or info just please pm me, i have numerous looms/ecu and many c16/x16/x14xe spares...
