It's all smooth and ready to use. I'm making the roof myself, I'm going to have a bit of help from some friends too.

Anyhow, took the roof back up to Brum today. Had to drive up the M40 with the boot open a bit which was a noisy!



Mould needed to man up a bit so I went at it with some expanding foam and plywood. I should think its stiff enough now for what I want.

Yep, the carbon should have cost £70 a meter but instead it was £10. This game aint cheap...

Wet layup is messy and horrible. Pre-preg is the shiz, much nicer sticking everything in a bag and cooking it for a bit

im not in wet lay up, im in composites as a laminator but carbon is my prefered material, then Epoxy, Phenolic is just a twat! were havin major problems with the resin content at the moment, even though we cant reject it as its passin the resin content test much to out annoyance

The guys who are going to be helping me do the roof layup are doing a mould at the moment using CSM fibreglass and Epoxy. They wet laid it and the vac bagged but had a few problems with resin content too. The moulds are salvageable so they're working away fixing them up now, but it looks messy!

should look good when completed mate, all in the bagging, can do the best job in the world but if you dont get enough bag into the areas it will be a shit job.

I predict it will look the shiz. One of the guys moulded a small part a few days ago and lacquered it with gloss, it looks fantastic - so much better than a gel coat because it's so much thinner. I just need to make my mind up. Gloss or satin?

Think I'll be laminating it all next week too. Then come back down armed with a spot weld drill and some glue at the end of the month...
