I should of checked the oil level myself, but alas I forgot. I noticed a nasty knocking sound and discovered I had no oil!! For some reason my oil light didnt come on!

Any ideas as to why its not working?

I would worry more about the fact that there is no oil in the car.. I never rely on sensors..

By the way, its probably a dodgy sensor, had to replace one in a bora the other day because the sensor was lighting up and wouldn't go off, even though there was plenty of oil in it..

the sensors arnt great anyway... when they come on yer car would have normally siezed...

is the pressure switch connected?
