right folks i have a crakced sump on the front edge of the sump as you look under the car !!

should i remove it to get it welded or would a decent welder manage to do it while its on the car ??

im thinking better taking it off ??

It would be cheaper to get your hands on a s/h sump, they are easy and cheap to come by, have a look on mig

go for about £20 for one
ask on MIG people throw them out all the time

there ally i think so you would need a ally welder and would prob cost you more to patch the hole up that to buy a second hand one

I mashed mine on 2nd day of 2ltr-age on a raised ironworks in the road!! Forgot how low the sump sits on the 20XE! I got a 2nd hand one from breakers for £15.

mine had been cracked and repaired with epoxy of some sort.
i dropped it and broke off the repair so had to get mine done.

was offered a few on mig for about a score, or a local engineering works would tig weld it for £40.
eventually was offered a free repair by animal on mig who lives up the road. he'd just got a a tig welder and needed the practice

id try get a new one personally, less likely to he=ave leaks etc

well as far as costs go for getting it welded i can get it welded for the cost of no more than a mars bar and it will be proper done, percs of having welder on site here at work
