Not entirely sure, but i would have thought that the basic map gives the ECU an idea of what its supposed to be doing, and the rest it enterperets and learns/alters depending on the condition. alest i'd hope so for £1k worth of ECU .

i'm pretty sure ECU's dont learn and do need setting up that way u get optimal fueling timing etc

some ECU's can learn but thats not the same as being fully mapped
