is the engine number on a c16xe here?



i trying to get a clutch for the car and apparently the clutch type changed in 1994 and they need the engine number so as to send the right one.

now ive read the number there its says c16xe 20109755 i sent that off to this place and they said the engine number makes no sense.

is the number writen anywere else....?

i dont know, but when i had my MOT the guy there said that as the car has a different head on it, he couldnt find the engine number and therefore put it through the 'others' emissions test :S meant it sailed through tho

There is a number on the nearest right hand corner, just above the red circle but where the headgasket is

that is the engine number, are you sure they dont want the vin number!

Thanks, but that engine No. doesn't really make sense!

The C16XE engines have a clutch change during 1994 as follows:

Early models upto engine No. 20B96111

or

Engine No. 20B96112 on

Perhaps a Vauxhall dealer can advise you?

Yes, these are a 3 pice clutch kit

you can see the format hes is looking for. but ive even got my brother out and he agrees with me that is the number ya can see it plain as day.....

just thinking would this mean thats theres a possible 3 different clutch types for the gsi in 1994?

early c16xe/late c16xe/and the x16xe came out in 94... wtf?

Digging up an old thread...

I'm trying to get a clutch from there too, but I can't read the last 2 engine numbers at all, its like they don't exist

All I can read is...

X16XEL 206422

and yes I know its an X16XEL - I was a bit miffed when I found this out but both inlet manifolds, piping, ecu, exhasut manifold, etc... all match X16XE part numbers, so looks like its only the head & block which is different...

if you get a lamp and put it up from underneath it shows ths number up quite well.....

anyways i was talking to a chap in vaux and he said that all the GSI clutchs were the same....

i got the 200mm like the haynes says seems to be fine.....

hmmmm yes but with mine being X16XEL, wont my flywheel be different??

been told the X14XE/C16SE fly's fit straight on & are considerably lighter

yeh there not the pot type but i was also told you have to have an f13 gearbox for this.... so i dunno

I dont really wana pull my gearbox to find out if I have or not

gona be a pain in the ass just changing the damn clutch as it is

also an engine number above or below one of the exhaust ports on the head

neither does mine... but he has the x16 enine so it might be different....

have fun changing it if you dont have one.... not a job i am hoping to repeat anytime soon!

you any tips/quick guide you could write up for me on this?? what I need to remove/undo/smack shite out of with a hammer??

I did the clutch on my old 8v about 4 times, that was pish...
