How do I clean or block off the EGR valve on a 1 litre 12V engine?
Will it cause any internal engine damage due to the higher cylinder temperature
if I block it off?

Shouldnt cause any problems. I will cheque to see if they are the same as the 1.4/1.6 engines for the blanking plate

i have a 12v and i replaced my egr valve and i dont think you can block them off as u would lose all the water out of the engine mate, look in my garage for pics of the egr valve and u will see what i mean.It bolts on and there is a big hole when u take it off as the water goes into the internals of the egr valve.Hope this helps

thanx for the pics I see what you mean bad news though as I really wanted to block it off because the bloody thing keeps getting blocked up with carbon and they want some massive price for a new one. How much did yours cost? Did you try cleaning it instead of replacing it?

Hi greebo2 thanx for the comments, just needs lowering now.I got my egr valve for £94 + vat & del so £120 from http://www.autovaux.co.uk that company is excellent for service, hope u get yours sorted.

By the way on their site the egr valve is under Electrical, then Engine Management after you have input your car details.
