I posted a while back with problems that I was having with my Corsa B 1.2 8v when its damp/raining.

It looked like I was having problems with the alternator but after tightening the V belt they have gone away but the main problem still persists.

However, at last Ive managed to keep the problem 'going' for long enough (with the help of the snow!) to keep the ECU light on long enough to log the fault.

Its code 64 - Amplifier control signal, cylinders 1 and 4 (Direct Ignition System (DIS))
Low voltage.

Now.. as I said before I've replaced the DIS unit itself with a brand new one and this has made the problem slightly better. Ive also replaced the leads and plugs.

Ive also cleaned the two electronic modules that are attached to a tin bracket on the left had wheel arch and even temporarily relocated them up by the battery so they are higher up and less likely to get wet.

But Im thinking at least one of these modules is at fault. Looking in my Haynes, the larger module is the Knock control system module. So it looks more likely that its the smaller module.

Just wondered if any of you guys think Im heading in the right direction and/or have any other suggestions about what to do next? Cos apparently these modules are £35 each and I cant afford to drop £70 and it still not be fixed! Is the smaller module the signal amplifier?

Really appreciate all your help - youve been great so far

The two modules attach to the bracket in the photo that is
a) directly to the right of the top of the dipstick and
b) directly downward from the right hand (in the photo) suspension strut.

In this photo I cant tell if there is anything attached to that bracket. Infact the bracket looks slightly different but is located in that position.

The thing that is actually attached to the side of the engine that has the HT leads coming out of it and to the plugs (in the picture with a bag around it) is called a DIS (Distributorless Ignition System) pack apparently. But according to my Haynes manual the DIS pack has two coils in it. Can there be a coil pack also?

The two bits on top of the battery are supposed to be on that bracket but I moved them to try and keep them drier.
