I've got an iPad mini retinate and randomly it appears to have a fit with the volume going up and doing and muteing itself and unmuteing itself itself?

Very strange and odd and have never experinced it before, any ideas?

If it's a Retina it'll still be under warranty. Just send it in.

Could try with a software restore, I guess, but from your description that seems an unlikely fix.

Can I just take it to store and they'll swap it over or do i need to book an appointment etc?

Probs obvious thing, but does it have a cover on? The cover on mrs ipad would do the same to the volume button.

It has a smart cover copy, and no screen protector.

Could it be the £10 ebay special that is messing with the sensors?

I think Brett is on about a cover that physically touches the buttons.

Can't see how your fake Smart Cover would cause it, but should be pretty easy to determine.

Yeah I'll take it off at lunch and see waht happens, also spoken to Apple on live chat and they were surprisingly helpful!

Yeah, I mean the kind of cover that basically protects the rear and wraps around the edges of the ipad. Although it was grooved to fit the volume buttons, it kept touching them and making it have the same symptoms as yours.
