Long and short, my speedo cable and cable drive need replacing on my GSi, Vauxhall can't get the parts until next week at the earliest, borrowing my mums car atm but she needs it back for work which leave me car-less until next week.
I can drive my GSi without a working speedo but as it goes into "limp home" mode it stalls at junctions which isn't handy when you have to drive 15 miles down a duel carriageway to work and the PAS and ABS cuts out when you come to a roundabout.....
Is there any way of being able to adjust the idle so it doesn't do this? Just as a temp measure until I can get the parts to repair it next week?

nope the ecu controls the idle via the icv.because you have no speedo drive the ecu cant pick up the vss signal from the clocks so the ecu can work out what it needs to adjust
you could always go and hire a car for a few days but most places you have tobe over 21 or 25 to hire tho

I'm well over 21 or 25 (*cough* 30 *cough*)
I think I'll see if I can borrow my brothers rare Astra GSi for a couple of days

yes, its simple.
get the engine running and disconnect the icv plug. means the ecu deosnt rely on the vss signal to open the icv as it always stays open
will get the em light on the dash but will drive fine.
