Author does a dead AFM thow up the ECU light?

c20xe. At the moment the only symptoms are that it wont idle when its been left for a couple of hours. Starts perfect but when the revs drop it just stalls. Its not ICV as thats only 2 months old.

im having very simliar problems and have checked and my icv is fine

lee mitchell told me also that the em light dont come on sometimes for the afm

think i need to replace

yeah mine did this it was the AFM

AFM is an electrical componant so will be associated with the EML

mine was faulty, tried my mates and worked fine, plugged it back in and tighttened the screw on itt and the ecu light went out.

it had better be afm as ive ordered a new one from fuel parts this aft £112 + vat, ouch

do u think a scrappy one would be ok? at least to make sure thats the fault?

If you unplug the AFM wont it instantly chuck up a warning light then go into a standard AFM setting mode???
If it does unplug it let the car go into limp home mode and see if it will idle then

If you unplug the AFM on the 2.5motronics it will stall the engine.

Hope the new one sorts it for you.

reset the ecu then start the car, while the engine is running do a paperclip test. then you should know if its the AFM or something else.

fanny flaps, didnt fix it. will have to try another icv next week
