No midway I'd say. From about 2-2.5k revs. It was definately noticable because when I took it off my car felt a bit sluggish.

i think its one of those things that you only notice once you have taken it back off again.
i have got one aswell, a while back everyone said the were good. all i hear now is how they dont add any power.
but you pay for what you get.

I don't think they so much as add power, more improve torque. That was my feeling anyway.

thats the truest thing i've ever heard. same with most inlet manifolds, you only really see just how good it is when its missing.

I have always thought the protech is a poo design personally. the collector is far too narrow.
it is designed to help with gaining power at high revs, 7000 rpm+ really. any manifold on a x16xe wont help massively below this as they are a very good design to start with. if anything they will lose you torque up to 5-6000 rpm. same as any modification on modern 16v N/A engines, you need to raise the rev limit and alter timing and fuelling to make the most of them.

Yeah mine was really rough sounding. That's one big reason why I got rid, cos it sounded like shit.

It does take the ecu a while to adjust the fueling and ignition according to the mods you make, even swapping from cat to decat made a difference on my corsa. I have a pro-tec manifold and I dont think it makes any difference to the sound, and performance would be hard to tell as it went straight onto a rebuilt engine that ran miles better than it did before anyway!
