photoshop and/or photomatix
the software only really aids in merging stuf ftogether theres still quite a bit of work to get them looking decent

Yeah i was playing about with photomatix but cant get anything decent as i only had a three shot one to work with. Down side is i think it was way to dark to get anything usable in the software. What kind of lighting conditions would be a good start?

If it's really dark you take longer exposures, it works exactly the same way you would take a normal picture except you take an exposure a couple of stops either side of your normal exposure.

hmm, if i post up the three exposures i randomly took. They are crap as i dont have a tripod and theres not much going on as i had low bat on the cam! But if any one can see if they can make it into a half decent HDR image id know its possible and im not just shit

yeah some of them exposures of that bridge were 50 seconds  pain in the arse waiting for that when its -5

Steve my fingers were so numb i didnt know if i had pressed the button down enough
Tripod for crimbo and a wireless remote as soon as i can get one cheap enough (proper canon one not chinky crap) as i cant hold the cam still to save my life!

tripod is a must, i dont bother with remote, just set the timer for 2 secs

The remote is mainly for photos of me and the gf as we dont have many and i hate the whole shot from the end of my arm look
Think photos will look more natural using one.
I swear my arm shakes more when i need to be still

they are ok the under is from a different spot though did you move the cam?
also you need to focus it as its blurry

I tried not to
Ive worked out how to do it in a burst style shot so it will be easier to do.
And yeah it is blurry, only had the cam a few days. Will take a few more tonight but in a better lit location as it was pretty much ppitch black with minimal lighting.

yeah shouldnt matter most of those i took were with next to no lighting, the hdr makes it look not so though.
what you took there would be fine if they were sharper and didnt move the cam

easiest way to use photomatix is to load the brakcetted photos then goto exposure and set it to auto, then save it and tweak it in photoshop, thats what i do generally.

I thought the photoshop one was quite good.
If I could take that without the window and droplets of water spoiling it it would be better.

yeah now you can see that it really brings out the lighting in the pic it looks like its just well lit, when actually its not

Photoshop one is a photoshop hdr btw in case there was any confusion.

yes i think photoshop hdr is good for creating more natural looking images, but photomatix is good for dramatic effects.
try photomatix with exposure auto though that works well

When using photomatix is there a way (without photoshop) to save/use the final image? As when ever i save it i cant use it as its saved as an .xmp file which cannot be converted to jpeg
