I fitted new pads, disks, shoes about 4 months ago as well as new hand brake cable. Since then there is excessive pedal travel. Also i have to adjust the hand brake cable all the time cos when i pull it on it goes right up and dosent hold. Once its all ajusted its ok for few days then back to being nothing there. Anyone have any ideas whats up with it.
Thanks
Mark

No! If the pedal feels sponge it could be air and bleeding the brake pipe removes the air! No idea about the handbrake!

your rear brake shoes could be nackered, or the auto adjustment mechanism may have gone, bleeding is a two man job unless you have an easy bleed kit from halfords. cos someone has o pump the breaks while the other checks for bubbles and new clean fluid. If none of those help, it may mean the master cylinder vacuum has gone so you need to take your motor to vauxhall for them to have a look. but hopefully its one of the first things.

take it to quick fit or national tyres, they provide a full brake check and its usually free. the law says you must have effective brakes, so they shouldnt charge you for it.

its probably the clip which holds the ratchet on the adjuster in the rear drums, this is what happened on mine, basically the pedal travelled to the floor cos the rear brakes never adjusted and the handbrake wouldnt hold the car. replaced the broken clips about 8p each from vaux and solved it all instantly.

part of the adjuster goes into this and the star washer/clip thingy holds it in.
