Bit unsure on this.

1.6 16v sport. Standard rad. Slimline fan. Cool running thermostat.

Sat in traffic today, hit temps where fan kicked in. It cooled a little and then the needle just dropped to nothing

As if I'd turned the ignition off.

Once I started rolling again the needle rose to read 90 and seemed fine remainder of the journey.

Any ideas guys?

Could be just poor ground or loose connection om dash

Check the spade connector next to the thermostat Mark, that's where the dash gets its reading so a dodgy connection there won't help.
