Is this possible with Vista?

I want to do a clean install of Vista on my laptop without all the bundled shit that comes on the restore discs. I have the OEM key on the laptop base, and I have a normal retail DVD.

I don't think it knows about what kind of disc you've used. I've used several different discs for reinstalls and the thing that matters is the serial number.

You don't need recovery discs either, any oem cd would work, they just check the BIOS, don't need a key.

No you don't, if he has an OEM key stuck to his machine he's probably got an OEM machine, in which case any OEM disc should work.
