Ok! well after a long thought and time looking into engines i have thought about getting the 1.6 16v into the corsa.

Some quick questions.

My current 1.4 8v is a nice little runner, it currently needs a little bit of TLC, including welding of the gear box mount and a new alternator bracket since mine has nearly snapped. Which will cost abit to buy and replace as well as the engine bay welding.

I was going along the lines of new spark plugs, ht leads, air filter, manifold to give my engine a bit of TLC and a clean up, until i total'd the cost of...£60 air filter, £150 for a manifold, £80 for plugs + leads...£60 welding...which is near £400...i then have to declare the mods to the insurance company as a tune'd 1.4 which increases the price more!

Anyway! how much would it cost for a decent 1.6 16v engine that doesnt have alot of miles i.e. 90k+ i'd like one around the same as mine 60/70k, how much work is needed to drop her into a 1.4 8v bay?

End result is it worth it?

compared to cleaning up the 1.4 8v.

Lee mitchell with fit a 2L engine for £500 he told me,I will supply a 2L 8v with 164bhp for £350 complete with hubs loom and the rest of it

so thats £850

£400 for a 1.6 engine seems alot even its a newish engine.
Can buy a redtop for less then that.

But upto you anyways seems like you have had enough of the wondeful c14se engines
c14se are great engines its just your driving

Mines pretty quick for what it is, 2nd gear is best

Jr is selling a c16se engine for £150 (8v 1.6) will be cheaper on insurance i think then the 16v engine

Also will be cheaper to fix if anything goes wrong with the 8v

Was after the c16se engine but not for £150

Theres alot of people who will fit a 2lt 16v for 500 inc myself.
You could and prob can get a 16v 1.6 for less than 400 an as you said you can get other engines cheaper BUT with this 1.6 he can see if running as its still in the car plus he knows its mint, looked after and has had alot of work done to it with bills to prove an you pay for this fact.

I can get this conversion done within a weekend.

Sunz - So whats been done to this 2lt 8v to make it 164bhp? as i would be interested if you can prove the power.......
