hi my head gasket went on my corsa the other day its in the garage gettin fixed now and getting the head skimmed aswell. ive been told i might need to run the engine back in sum 1 told me 1000 miles and sum 1 said they did there's 150 miles around the 2 RPM. can any 1 else tell me how long they run theres in 4. also what RPM will it be at in 5th gear doin about 70mph would it b ok to do 70mph just after ive had it done as i want to take it to pvs on sunday its 160miles each way from my house. thanks for any help

i'd say to do at least 250 miles before giving it a bit of stik.but the main thing you must try not to do is overload the engine i.e. driving up steep hills in a high gear at low revs straining the engine.but just take it easy for a while anyay.

Never ever heard of running an engine in when headgaskets been done.
I personally have done about 20 head gaskets and never ran one in and never had a problem.

no need to do anything but drive it normally. I have changed loads of these headgaskets, jut keep an eye on the coolant system, make sure theres no airlocks or leaks etc after 100 miles or so.

Sorry to thread hi jack, do i need to use sealant on a 1.2 8v C12NZ engine?
also anyone got the part number for the headbolts?
