had problems in the last 7 days of the temperature going wild (up to 100 at times whilst sitting at 70mph in 5th gear) and since sunday my car has been stalling itself and cutting out sometimes when i was braking (not always, only sometimes)!

but i could always manage to start the car back up after waiting for about 20 minutes.

last night, whilst driving home, my EML came on and the car started to make a huge wheezing noise and whenever i tried to accelerate, the engine would make a noise like wires were been crunched up.

when i was braking, the car cut out again and managed to pull into a safe place. the car would not start back up at all, all the water had been spurted out into the engine bay which is why there was steam coming from under my bonnet.

still won't start today after about 20 hours being sat.

my dads mate has came to look at it as its turning over but is not starting up. he put his nose over the water bottle thing and could smell petrol coming out (was also white steam coming out).

he said this is a definite 100% indication of head gasket gone and the head would also have bene warped?

is this true? it is not ICV after all as robin and a few others suggested

although, would end up being more costly and more time off the road

If you manage to get the engine running get your self some k seel, works a treat but yours sounds beyond fucked for a quick fix.

Mine went in the last month, it was just burning water through the exhaust, also had white gas coming out of the coolant bottle and shit loads of preasure if i opened the cap. Temp would also rise way above 100 into the red but that was due to hardly any water. I used k seel (£10) and it fixed it with in an hour or two, I did have to top the water up after a bit because it has lost some obviously were the head gasket was fucked. Been fine ever since but i wouldnt rely on the stuff to last forever.

New engine time for yours by the sounds of it, unless you know someone that can repair it on the cheap but is it realy worth it?

Good luck and let us know what happens though.

K seal and other similar products are utter shite, they usually block up small waterways, water pump seals, radiator galleries.....

fixed a few cars after people have put the stuff in and it gets everywhere.

the idea is that when it mixes with water and exhaust gasses it sets, problem is if you add it to the engine after the HG has been leaking for a while it sets in the whole cooling system.

fix it to sell, yes (bit dishonest) fix it permanantly or temporarily, no it will cost more in the long run when you come to fix it

have you done a compression test or a coolant Co2 test?

if not, do them they will tell you if its the head gasket, people guessing over the internet wont.
