I believe that the head gasket has gone on my daughters corsa, but for some strange reason i under stand losing water, but oil going down the exhaust manifold?
Could anybody advise what could be cause this to happen.

you mean running down the outside of the manifold??
could be seeping out of the gap between the head and the block

What engineis it,oil was going down exhaust manifold on mine which is a 1.4 and it was the rocker cover gasket and oil cap.

If it is the head gasket, then it will have gone between an oilway and cylinder bore.
I'd say it's more likely to be valve stem seals though.

How can you see there is oil going inside the manifold?
Surely with the heat insdie the manifold it'll burn off pretty quickly.
I suspect it's trickling down the outside which is probably nothing more than a rocker box gasket as they are prone to failing - god knows mine has!
As for losing water - have you checked for any leaks? Just because there aren't puddles on the floor doesn't mean it's not leaking, check the usual places for signs of leakage

There is a small crack on the manifold and oil is coming out from there.

I'd get a gasket kit do the stem seals, and HG. Get the head skimmed.
(well no i wouldn't, i'd put a new engine in )
