i have some white gunk in the oil filter cap and there a sort of whistling sometimes when i drive the car. i think it mite be the head gasket? Would it do more damage to drive it until i get it into the garage? Also my temp gauge rises realy slowly and the car overheats n doesn't start sometimes after a fairly long drive. Could thiss be thermostat, would realy appreciate some help. thx.

best to get it done as asap as it will get more expensive the longer its fucked to get repaired
the gasket will cause ur car to overheat aswell mate it will give off a white smoke aswell

white gunk usaualy means head gasket but could be condensation. is it in the oil? yeah def replace the thermostat, cheap and easy!!! u can get a test done from a garage. they take some of ur water in some seringe. if it turns green its ya head gasket!!
