ive just put a new engine in my 1.4 sport ive replaced it with another x14xe but my engine light now comes on when i start driving it. so ive did the paper clip test an the results come up that it is the knock sensor. the problem is whats the knock sensor. Any help would be great thanks.

its a sensor attached to the back of the block. small round and black, with a bolt holding it on..... can get to i from under the car

so do i need to replace it ive looked im my manual an the knock sensor on my old engine had 1 wire from it an the new engine has 2 does this matter the new engine is a sri an mine was a sport both 16v ecotech so that shunt be a problem should it

because i did a test on the astra earlier and it showed crank sensor but when i looked into it i read that alot of sensors show a fault code if u do the test when the engine is not running as its not sending a signal
just a thought
