Windows update is flashing a very irritating box in the corner to tell me...

Dangerous malware infection was detected on your pc. The system will now download and install most effficient antimalware program to prevent data loss and your private indormation theft.
Click here to protect your computer from the biggest malware threats.

When you click it d/ls spyaxe which then does a scan then needs paying for :@ I dont want to buy it. The computer already has stopzilla etc so how can i get rid of this poipup?

Guys, I have successfully removed SpyAxe using the procedure in this thread, post 3 or 4 in the list.

SpyAxe removal

Note - This will take a while to do, allow an hour to follow the procedure, and plz follow to the letter as this in intence stuff.

There is another way which I have not used so can't guarantee here.

Let me know via u2u if you have problems.

Andy

Edit - Adaware with up to date definitions appears to find and says it has removed the Spyaxe malicious code but next login it comes back!

If I can help please feel free to u2u. The instructions in that thread are OK if you work with computers but a lot of people don't

It's the most annoying piece of code that I've ever come across, the people who run that company should be hung up to dry!

You could try me on MSN at astranks@msn.com, one at a time plz

I followed the second link cos it seemed easier and all my stuff is backed up so i thought why not. And it worked fine, all gone, need to reset some things like background but thats easily done.

The only thing was that when i restarted my computer in safe mode, it gave me two options to login, either as the admin, or myself, i ran it on admin first and it didnt fix it, ran it on both and all was sorted!!

Thanks for your help, its much appreciated!!!

Hi, having look through the post andysport put up i wasnt feeling particularly confident and was going to start by going through ians list until i could clarify one or two points with andy!
In the meantime i noticed that stopzilla had a live chat forum. So clicking on it and entering my login details and a brief account of my problem led to the following.

For the description of my problem i put something along the lines of " Hi, I have a box appearing saying "your computer is infected" clicking on it installs spyaxe but I have been told that spyaxe is a virus itself is this true?"

quote:
Please wait for a site operator to respond.
All operators are currently assisting others. Thanks for your patience. An operator will be with you shortly.
You are now chatting with 'STOPzilla'
STOPzilla: Hi! Stand by one second... I'll be right with you...
ainsley: ok
STOPzilla: Yes it is, we are releasing an update to our program this coming Tuesday that will rid your system of that infection.
ainsley: ah right so if i just check for updates tuesday then it will sort itself?
STOPzilla: You will have to uninstall you current version and install a fresh version from our website on Tuesday
ainsley: ok i will do that
ainsley: One other thing
ainsley: Is it possible to alter the pop up protection, for example, it wont allow me to select "open link in new window" as it blocks the new window!
STOPzilla: You can check what sites it's blocking in the blacklist and your able to allow the sites you want that the program has blocked.
ainsley: ok i'll try that
ainsley: Thank you for your time
STOPzilla: You got it!
STOPzilla: Thanks for stopping by - make sure to come back if you need any more help.

So we shall see on Tuesday night if they have cured it. In the meantime i'll just put up with it!
