Those of you out there who have fitted your own cossvaux hubs, how tight have you torqued them and how many miles have you done on them?
Basically on the original garage conversion they used machined down hubs but these didn't last long as they weren't machined correctly and they spun on the inner bearing face. I then purchased some cossvaux hubs and brand new Vaux bearing and fitted them all, and torqued them/angled as per the haynes manual for Corsa B. Now some people have said (inc Cossvaux) that I should have torqued the bearing down as hard as physically possible. Now this would ensure that the hub did not fail (i.e slip and wear down on inner bearing face) but I dont think my bearing life would be very long...
Reason I ask is because im getting a little squeeking and a little roughness under braking which is exactly what happened with my first set of machined std hubs, ive done approx 3-4K with new hubs.
If these have fooked then im off to Harry Hockley for their GrP A machined KNUCKLES with std 2.0 hubs... these must surely be the best option....

Last time i changed hubs (bearing problem) i asked a vauxhall mechanic,
of the "i've got 30 years experience type", and he told me to use an impact wrench
and tighten them up as tight as possible (don't hammer it for 5 mins, just tighten it up untill it wont turn any further).
These were standard hubs on my diesel nova, but that shouldn't make a difference, the construction is the same.

i agree torque them taf!!
Due to it being a ball rather than a taper bearing you will not over tighten it!

a mate of mine had the same problem... the car was eating wheel barings
hes now after using the harry hockley ones and says they are perfect still

Have you measured the hubs and bearing inner face to see how close the fit is?? All well and good buying off the shelf hubs, as long as they are pressed in correctly in the first place and you do them up as per haynes then you should be fine, it might be worth doing them, then going round the block and then checkign them again?
I take it you do the tighten them full , then loosen off thing??

Yes lock em down hard, then off then it was something like 20Nm, and two angulations (cant remember though). Bloody things...

Think you shoudl invest in som egood calipers and do some measuring.

Are you sure thats for front wheel bearings? If so i'm not suprised you knocking hubs out! I'd be looking at more like 100-120 Nm.
As I said you will not overtighten that front wheel bearing unless you snap the drive shaft in half.
